TURNING YOUR INTERESTS INTO SKILLS
On the path to self discovery, being able to discern our Skills from our Interests helps usfocus our energy correctly when creating.
An Interest is a feeling of wanting to learn more about something or to be involved in something (such as a hobby) that a person enjoys learning about or doing.
When trying to identify what interests you, you can take out a sheet paper and examine and jot down how you use your free time.
If you are anything like me, your interests can be over flowing. But in this list, try to only write down those interests that really call to you. You will find that often your interests and skills will be connected.
Next make a list of your skills; Your skills being those things in which you have the ability to do well or a particular ability. If you are unsure about your skills, make a list of things that you already do that make your life easier. For example, small things like being organized and having the ability to multitask is a skill.
Practice is the actual application or use of an idea, belief, or method as opposed to theories about such application or use. Repeated exercise in or performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it.
So this states that in order to maintain proficiency one must practice, and in practicing you are expanding the theories of such application or use.
So for everyone the outcome of what is learned or gained is different, that is how uniquely awesome we are.
Anything that may interest you can become a skill with practice, whether its learning about History and culture to be able to travel certain parts of the world or wanting to become a more organized person. With practice, you can turn any interest into a skill.
As we go through our many stages of growth and expansion we will play with many different interests and grow numerous different skills; Weaving through and knowing the difference between your interests and your skills can be important.
So no matter what it is, practice away because anything is possible when you know who you are and what you are truly passionately good at. .
Every single person has something they are good at, and when aligned with it and matched with action and intent, anything is possible.
